The Memorial

This photo does not fully capture how beautiful the pavillion is.
It was beautiful! EVERYTHING was pink and purple!
We had our TV all set up for the slid show and video.
We had cake, ice cream and grape juice.
The display with flowers from friends and family,
38 balloons for each day of her life,
Destiny's blankets,
an enlarged framed photo of Destiny
from her Grandmother, Adriana Cassani,
a poem put together by her grandmother, Cheryl Blake,
and a wreath from some sweet sisters at church.
A photo of a photo hardly ever turns out good.
I love this print though because it looks like Destiny is smiling,
peeking out at us with her hands resting on the frame.
This now has a home outside our front door
and every time I see the heart gushing with blossoms I am reminded
that while our hearts are broken right now,
the Lord is making room for more love to overflow.

YOUR DESTINY
by A. Cheryl Blake

If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane
We would walk right up to heaven
And bring you back again.

No farewell words were spoken
No time to say goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why

A spirit so special, so perfect and pure
Fulfilling the mission for which you were sent
Not needing the trials of this life to endure
Back to Heavenly Father you went

But now we know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember the happy times
Heavenly Father has in store

You will be in our memory
You've fulfilled you DESTINY
Now our task is to live worthy
To join with you in heaven for ETERNITY

Lynn: The memorial was everything I hoped it would be. Several people were worried that when we released the balloons and they got stuck in the trees that we'd be upset about it. Truly, it was perfect! It was symbolic to me of how our sweet angel, Destiny, did not want to leave us behind either. I feel as though the only reason she wasn't taken home sooner was because those 38 days were a sign of her love for us.
